The Three Dimensional System - allowing us to understand, accept and present a new formula for success: Art + Science + Business

The individual player's personality is the most important aspect of playing modern football.  We are advocating the three dimensional soccer system at the intersection of:

  • MIND - expressed by intelligent acts of creating the game
  • SKILLS - expressed through the ability to compose the game
  • PHYSICAL - expressed through speed, power and endurance for the duration of the game

For comparison, we look at Argentina and Ghana:

Player Personality Argentina's Priority Ghana's  Priority
Mental 1 3
Physical 3 1
Skills 2 2

Small Groups 2 Players to the 11-Team Tactics

2 to 11 Player Tactics
Groups Argentina Ghana
1-2, 1-2-1, 1-2 for 3rd Almost perfect at all times Inconsistent accuracy
3 vs. 1, 3 vs. 2, 3 and 1 vs. 2 and 3 Almost perfect - no dribbling and no ball lost in attack Lack of coordination given the opponent's superior mobility
11 playing equal in attack and defense or set place Almost perfect - small groups 2-3-4 in attack while 11-10-9 in all other situations Difficulty in maintaining cohesiveness

The two-player composition happens in various positions in the field: tandems, couples, diagonals and becomes one of the most effective playing tools.  The players are combining through compensation of strengths and skills for both attack and defense.

The three-player composition defines the triangular disposition organized according to situation, players' value, team's needs or specific skill.

New Game Strategy

PRINCIPLES OF PLAYING IN ATTACK PRINCIPLES OF PLAYING IN DEFENSE PRINCIPLES OF PLAYING AT SET PLAYS
Defend while attacking Attack when you defend 1-2 in attack ready for counterattack 2-second relax/2-second decide/2-second play
Switch from defense to attack by passing with optimum decision Switch from attack to defense +getting in zone and decide In attack: stop the ball and play
Direct or indirect attack Defend against opponent's direct/indirect attack In defense: all in zone+man-to-man/timing the ball

In our opinion, we believe this is the most important lesson to be learned from Argentina:

When losing the ball: all players are returning to defend in classical 2 lines of 4 players + man-to-man, using interception and tackling without fault or violent attack to recuperate the ball.

When getting the ball: slow down, control the ball by short passing in groups of 3-4 players, switch all on the other side, and pass over the middle line.  From that point on, decide: direct or indirect attack with groups of players.
