Football has remained over the decades the number one sport across the world.  The multitude of benefits of playing football include:

  • team-sport promotion
    • friendship between its members (players, parents, coaches, referees, communities, countries)
    • leadership
    • self and group confidence, prestige, etc.
  • development of athletic and mental abilities
    • extensive and continuous physical and mental activity (as opposed to, say, baseball) throughout the game and preparation
    • good cardio-vascular activity
    • endurance
  • discipline of following the rules of a team/club and rules of the game.

Through its universal language, football can be analyzed globally, nationally and individually:

#

THREE DIMENSIONAL SYSTEM

1 World Football Systems:
  • Anglo-Saxon
  • Latin
  • Mixed/Total
Soccer is international in its content of performance.  Through history, football has crystallized three systems identified at the left.  The Anglo Saxon School, represented by England, Germany, Denmark, Netherlands, Norway, etc., brings physical fitness and tactical discipline while the Latin School represented by Brazil, France, Italy, Portugal, Romania, etc. combines art/skill and creative game strategies.
2 National Football Systems:
  • Physical Fitness based
  • Skill based
  • Mixed
Similarly, soccer can be "defined" nationally.  At the country level, football systems are built according to the "main" traits, i.e. physical fitness, art/skill, and a combination thereof.
3 Individual Football System/Concept:
  • Predominantly Physical
  • Predominantly Skill-based
  • Mixed (physical/skill)
The individual system, particular to a player or a coach's concept of performance, is built with a predominance in physicality or skill, or on the combination of the two.

In evaluating each National Level, one needs to clearly identify and assess the value of:

  • football specialists
  • football players and teams
  • football facilities and technology supporting preparation and games
  • national competitions
  • football management

as well as:

  • Playing System
  • Training System
  • Recovering System

Each national football performance system should be accepted, completely understood and applied specifically by:

  • AGE
    • Under 12 (kids) 5-12
    • Under 17 (juniors) 12-16
    • Over 16 (youth) 17-20
    • Under 23 (maturity/olympics) 21-23
    • Seniors over 17
  • CATEGORY
    • Amateurs
    • Semi-professionals
    • Professionals
  • TYPE OF SPECIALIST
    • coach
    • player
    • manager
    • referee
    • doctor
    • trainer
    • parent
    • media, etc.
